Installation Questions


What facilities do I need on my web host to use CBRocket?

Here is what you need:
  • PHP version 4.3 or later (PHP 5 compatible)

  • MySQL database

  • If you want the script to be able to automatically download marketplace data from ClickBank, with a click of the mouse.

    • Your webhost must have configured PHP so it can retrieve data from external websites using any one of these methods: fopen, file_get_contents, or CURL. Most hosting companies do allow this - but you should ask your webhosting company, if unsure.

    • If your hosting company does not allow this, you can still use CBRocket but you will have to manually transfer a copy of the ClickBank marketplace ZIP file to your webhost (for example by uploading the file to your web host using an FTP program).

One Important Proviso About CBRocket

As previously mentioned, CBRocket retrieves product listings automatically from the ClickBank marketplace (and XML data from MarketingRocket). Consequently, CBRocket does depend on the design of ClickBank (amd MarketingRocket's) datafeeds.

Unlike some of our competitors, we obtain this data only use the documented and supported features provided within ClickBank's official datafeed. Moreover we have designed CBRocket so it can automatically accommodate small changes to ClickBank's feed, should they decide to make changes in future.

However, if ClickBank were to radically redesign their datafeed (or withdraw this service completely), CBRocket might no longer be able to retrieve data from ClickBank. If this were to occur, you would no longer be able to retrieve updated product information from ClickBank (however your site would be able to continue to operate with the data already retrieved).

How hard is it to install CBRocket?

It should be easy. Here are the steps:
  1. After you purchase you will be given access to a ZIP file containing your personal copy of code. Download this file and unpack it using WINZIP.
  2. You need to get the MySQL connection parameters (4 text parameters: your MySQL user name, password, database name and host name) from your web host. Modify the configuration file to contain these 4 parameters. You also need to enter your URL and ClickBank nickname in this same configuration file.
  3. Upload CBRocket to your web site, and run the administration script. Click the option to set up the MySQL database tables, the click the option to download the data from ClickBank and MarketingRocket.
  4. You can now use CBRocket on any of your pages. There are many methods of integration depending on exactly how you want to use it, but in most cases you simply add between 1 and about 5 lines of code to those pages you want to integrate with.

Questions About Search Forms


Can I place Search Forms on any page on my site?

Yes. Place the search form on whichever of your pages (as many as you want), that you'd like.


Can I customize the Search Form's appearance?

Yes.

CBRocket will give you some simple HTML code for a basic search form. You are free to reformat, by adding tables, changing the text, adding fonts and colors, etc.



Questions About Search Results


Can I configure the style of results returned?

Yes.

There are numerous options you can change by changing simple configuration options, including:
  1. The number of results per page.
  2. Whether search boxes shown be shown above or below the resutls (or both, or neither).
  3. Whether to include images (for those results that have them) in the results - and whether to place such images on the left or right.
  4. Whether to include prices (for those results that have them) in the results.
  5. The font.
  6. The HTML that goes around the results (a template for the top and bottom of the page). For example, you could modify the colors, add your own logo, add banners or text, (etc.) to the results page.

Can I make the link in the search results open with TARGET=_top (current window) or TARGET="_blank" (a new window)

Yes.

There is a setting in the configuration file to control this.


Can I control the fonts for search results?

Yes.

There is a setting in the configuration file to control this.


Can I control the background colors for search results?

Yes.

Modify the template that goes around the page by adding BGCOLOR="YELLOW" (or whatever color) to its <BODY> tag.

NOTE: Some product images include white backgrounds/edges, so they may appear to have a colored border around them if you do change the background color.


Can I turn off the Powered By CBRocket in the search results?

Yes.

There is settings in the configuration file to control this.

Questions About Mini-Links


What Are Mini-Links?

Mini-Links are targeted text ads, containing several adverts, laid out in a table (like a grid of Ads).


How Are Mini-Links Targeted?

You can target your Mini-Links based either on a predefined keyword phrase that you supply (different Mini-Links adverts can have different keyword phrases)

or

You can use Auto Mini-Links which are automatically targeted to try to match the title of the containing page.


Can I control the number of rows and columns in the Mini-Links?

Yes.

There are settings in the configuration file to control this.


Can I make a horizontal-banner-type Mini-Links Ad?

Yes.

Using the settings in the configuration file: Simply set the number of rows to 1, and the number of columns and overall of the width to your choosen values.


Can I make a skyscraper-type Mini-Links Ad?

Yes.

Using the settings in the configuration file: Simply set the number of columns to 1, and the number of rows and overall of the width to your choosen values.


Can I control which text to display for a Mini-Link?

Yes. You can choose whether your Mini-Links will include just the Title, or both the Title and Description.


Can I make the Mini-Links open with TARGET=_top (current window) or TARGET="_blank" (a new window)

Yes.

Can I control the fonts for Mini-Links?

Yes.

Can I control the colors for Mini-Links?

Yes.

There is a setting in the configuration file to control the overall background color, as well as the background colors of even and odd numbered cells in the Mini-Links table (allowing you to alternate the cells between two colors if you want).
